One of our juniors, Aaron Savage, won a NJ Governor’s Award in Visual Arts. Aaron won 1st place in the State for Photography and was nominated for the Governor’s Award. He was presented with the award on May 10, 2012 at the War Memorial in Trenton. Congratulations Aaron!

The Fair Funding Action Committee held a Rally at the Kingsway Regional High School on May 8, 2012. Back on January 15, 2012, Governor Chris Christie broke his promise and pocket vetoed legislation that would have provided supplemental appropriation of $4.141 Million for schools with significant growth (including Swedesboro/Woolwich School District, Kingsway Regional High School, East Greenwich School District and South Harrison School District.) Out of Gloucester County’s 14 high school districts, Kingsway Regional High School’s graduation rate — at 96.52 percent — is the highest in this calculation, something Superintendent Jim Lavender said is a testament to the school and its teachers. Kingsway also ranks in the top tier of high schools throughout southern New Jersey, rivaling the more affluent districts of Lenape, Haddonfield and Cherry Hill.

More than 100 middle and high school girls from around South Jersey learned what it was like to be food scientists, aerospace engineers and biologists at Gloucester County College’s Women in Technology Fair on Friday.

The Kingsway Regional Marching Band Finished their regular season of competitions strong by coming in first place scoring a 94.8 at the North Plainfield HS show. The score of a 94.8 is the highest score in the marching bands group size (1A) in the State and National Rankings in the USSBA circuit

Two years ago, Kingsway got state approval for 41 new classrooms along with a guarantee of $8.4 million in state funds toward a $31.1 million expansion. Although the project was voted down last year, census numbers clearly support the need for some classrooms at Kingsway… the Kingsway measure should pass this time…

Two Gloucester County school systems will seek voter approval Tuesday for expansion projects worth more than $50 million. The districts — Kingsway Regional and East Greenwich — say larger buildings are needed due to soaring enrollment levels. But they also acknowledge local financing for the projects would increase property taxes.

This was no ordinary field trip.  Kingsway High School students volunteered to participate in a Habitat for Humanity (HFH) work day in collaboration with The Gloucester County chapter of Habitat for Humanity, headquartered in Pitman, New Jersey.

Two of our students, Janelle Wellons and Aaron Savage, competed in the New Jersey NAACP ACT-SO (Academic Cultural Technological Scientific Olympics) on Saturday April 16, 2011 in Newark, New Jersey and received honors at the Medal Ceremony on Sunday.

Mrs. Donna Carpenter, High School and Ms. Julie Riggi, Middle School, were named Kingsway’s 2010-11 Teachers of the Year. Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Riggi’s mother, Marcy Gunning, were present for the Gloucester County Teacher Recognition Program held on April 13th.
