School is a place where students should dress neatly, and in good taste. Clothing should not be provocative, lewd, offensive, or exaggerate the anatomy.
The following types of clothing are not to be worn to school:
- Tops and dresses with spaghetti straps- unless worn with a T-shirt underneath.
- Halter or midriff tops that expose the mid to lower back and/or stomach.
- Shorts that are shorter than your fingertips when hands are held at one’s side.
- Skirts that are shorter than mid-thigh length and/or are above your fingertips when arms are
placed at your side. - Hats, bandanas, silk caps or any type of headwear aside from hair accessories.
- Torn or tattered clothing.
- Picks or combs in hair.
- Clothes that inappropriately exaggerate or expose parts of the anatomy (too tight, too short,
too low cut, see through, etc.) Clothing shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments at all
times. - Apparel that displays inappropriate or offensive language, gestures, pictures/drawings,
alcohol and drugs. Apparel that displays messages offensive to others. Apparel that is
deemed inciteful. - Chains on pants and wallets. Any jewelry or accessories that are considered dangerous or
offensive. - Sunglasses (unless prescribed by a doctor and a doctor’s note is provided).
- For security reasons, jackets and coats should be placed in lockers once students arrive at
school. They are not to be worn in the halls, classrooms or large assembly areas, such as
the gym, cafeteria, and auditorium.
If, in the opinion of any teacher, a student is found in violation of the dress code, he or she
will be required to change his or her attire. If this is not possible, a parent/guardian will be
contacted and the student will be sent home and required to change or placed in Internal
Suspension for the remainder of the day. Refusal to change will result in the student
being sent to the Assistant Principal’s office and subject to the discipline code.
